My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jasper is one of those wonderful cats that everyone wants to take home once they meet him. This boy is not a shy wallflower—he likes to greet new people at the door. Once introductions have been made, feel free to take a seat anywhere, because Jasper's going to be ready for lots of petting and scratches. It's awfully difficult not to fall in love with this sweet, affectionate guy.

Jasper is about three years old and came to us from a home with too many cats and he was left to his own devices outside. Luckily, a kind neighbor recognized his sweet soul, and fed and cared for him until we could get him into a foster home. He is extremely calm and even-tempered, but not at all aloof. Jasper's favorite activity in the world is getting affection and fussing from his people. He likes to be brushed and scratched, and even does well getting his nails clipped. His gorgeous long coat is very unusual because he has a white undercoat that shows through when his fur is ruffled, making him resemble a skunk. Feel free to throw in a belly rub at any time; Jasper will happily roll over and give his belly up for a good rub.

Jasper has gotten along with dogs in the past, and doesn't seem averse to calm cats, so we think that he'd be happy in a home as an only cat, or sharing it with a calm dog or cat. He is very gentle, so we know that he'd do great with cat-knowledgeable children as well.

When he's not doing his favorite thing— getting loved by his people —Jasper is also happy to spend his time watching birds and squirrels outside the window or playing with his favorite squeaky bunny toy. He's also partial to wand toys when someone is available to fling them from side to side for him to chase. Jasper isn't yet a lap cat in his foster home, but we think that once he settles down in a permanent home where he doesn't have to share too much attention, he'll settle right in to lap time and cuddles.

This calm, even-tempered boy is extremely outgoing and affectionate

Jasper, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV. Jasper's adoption fee is $80.

If you are interested in meeting Jasper, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.
