Shana's Story...
Shana is a gorgeous and sweet, two-year-old, female pastel or dilute tortoiseshell cat looking for a loving guardian. She has such intense golden eyes that she looks like an Egyptian statue. Shana was found as a stray and brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control. She had five kittens while she was there. Normally newborns don’t survive in the shelter environment, but Shana made sure they were fed, cleaned, and protected. She was such a good mama that shelter staff added four orphan kittens in for her to care for. That was a lot of work for this lovely skinny momma. Now, it’s her turn to feel special. Luckily the whole family of ten was brought home by a dedicated foster mom who lavished tons of TLC on all of them. Shana loves people and enjoys having her ears and chin scratched. She loves to cuddle right up next to you on the couch. She is also smart - she figured out how to drink from the sink in her foster home in minutes, is learning to open doors, and is clearly inquisitive. She is also a big time talker-- she purrs and does trills to talk to people, especially when they talk to her. Shana is healthy, spayed, de-wormed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, micro-chipped and virus-tested. Her adoption fee of $95 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control rescue group. She would be fine adopted on her own or with one of her kids. She’s not too fond of dogs. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shana, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
