Pepper's Story...
Pepper is a beautiful Orange Wing Amazon. She was surrendered because her owner died. She is a very sweet, hand tame bird. Pepper loves to sit on her open cage on the top perch and keep an eye on the household activity. She also loves to play with bells and take showers.

Pepper likes to say, "I love Pepper" and "I love you." She does a wolf whistle, and she even whinnies like a horse! Pepper has been on a healthy pellet diet, and she also likes to eat nuts, apples, grapes, and seeds.

Pepper is initially shy but will step up for anyone, even though she may fuss about it. Her foster mom is able to cuddle with her and scratch her head and neck. She has noticed, however, that Pepper is terrified of children. Therefore, it would be best if Pepper went to a home without children.

Pepper will call out with a high pitch in the morning and in the evening but is relatively quiet during the day. She will make a wonderful addition to the right home.

Pepper's approximate hatch date is 5/2002, and her adoption fee is $400.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pepper, a St. Louis Amazon was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Amazon for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Amazon from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Amazon breeders who help with Amazon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
