Elsie's Story...
Meet Elsie - Elsie is deaf - a catahoula / pit mix (mom is catahoula / pit and dad is full catahoula - we have pictures of both parents) who is 6 months old and weighs around 40 pounds. Elsie loves people, other dogs & cats. She's up to date with vaccinations as of June 2012, is heartworm negative and on monthly prevention. She isn't spayed yet and this will be done for her new owner. Elsie is crate trained and still working on being housebroken. Her owner states she is very playful and has a lot of energy. With her dog friends she can play rough and tumble but is very sweet and gentle with people. They call her their tomboy ballerina. Elsie understands several signs but is going through that puppy stage where she does not want to "listen" and can be challenging. She is easily distracted by visual and odorous stimuli. They are currently attempting to work on her ability to focus and "listen" to the commands given. Since Elsie is deaf and young, she will need a committed owner, someone with patience to train a large deaf puppy. But, Elsie is very eager to please and will make someone an awesome companion. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Elsie, a Baton Rouge Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull Terrier puppy from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
