(Elke has angel wings! A vet tech noticed the pattern on her back. We'll try to post a pic soon. ) Elegant Elke is an American Foxhound (appears purebred but we can't guarantee it), about 6 years old, 65 lbs, spayed, UTD on shots, and microchipped. Relying on her feminine wiles for survival, she flagged down a passing car by rolling onto her back for a tummy rub in the middle of a country highway. Skin and bones, she had run herself ragged doing what she loves best: exploring the woods. Now she is safe, living in a foster home with a big fenced yard, but she longs to run— really run—sometimes staring out the glass front door, whimpering. Quiet, playful, good-natured, this little lady is low maintenance. She will go about her business unobtrusively—napping, eating, lying outside in the sun, occasionally romping with a foster sibling. Just when you think that she is the most docile doggy ever, Elke will belt out a bellowing bugle of a howl reminiscent of those made by the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. Elke wants supper. Elke wants “her” bed. Elke wants a Milkbone. This is how Elke told us her name (she sounds like an Elk!). We think that she is perfect, just the way she is. We want Elke to find forever parents who feel the same way. This sweet girl deserves a home that can give her all the love, attention, and exercise she needs to reach her full potential.

OOTW helps people who help animals. We primarily assist folks who take in stray or abandoned animals and offer them assistance with discounted veterinarian services and assist with placement in adoptive homes. We promote the spaying and neutering of all pets. For more information, go to our website, www.ootwrescue.org
We do not have a shelter. Our pets are being cared for in foster homes. We allow prospective adopters to meet the pet by appointment after we have approved the home to adopt and feel that we have a good match.
We ask that an adopton application be filled out and returned to help us make the best match possible for the rescued pet and for the adoptive home.
Our adoption fee is $150.00 We do add transportation costs which are paid by the adoptive home varying from $150.00-$200.00.
