My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bonnie is a sweet, ~3 year old newfoundland mix from Utah. Bonnie absolutely adores people and loves other dogs. We don’t really know the full story, but she was surrended because she was chasing kids on bikes but also being bullied by neighborhood teens (on bikes?). She doesn’t seem to be holding any kind of grudge against people and opened up considerably after a short time in a safe loving foster home. She is a big teddy bear at heart. She is still a little uncomfortable around bikes, but getting better with positive reinforcement.

Bonnie loves to play with her foster brother and sister. She loves toys and will try to steal them from the other dogs at every opportunity. They have a great time wrestling, although Bonnie has no idea how big she is. Because of this she is not recommended for a home with small children. With her loving nature, we think she would do well with older kids. She also loves patrolling the yard and keeps close tabs on the squirrels and other “intruders”.

We are not really sure what she is mixed with, our best guess is wolfhound. She weighs ~100 lbs. She was puppy cut but is growing back a gorgeous black coat with a smidge of wirey hair mixed in. She has a slightly leaner and more athletic build than your typical newf. She has the sweet newfie disposition, with a small helping of watchdog. Like any newf, she loves going belly up for tummy rubs. She is a messy drinker, but not a big drooler. She strikes a great balance of being very affectionate but not clingy or constantly underfoot. She is housebroken and well behaved when loose in the house, although she will counter surf if food is left in reach. She does not like to be crated. She is doing well with her basic obedience.
