My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 08/14/2012 BONNIE IS BACK! Bonnie is 11 years old and weighs 6.4 lbs now. She is being fostered in Ft. Myers, FL. Bonnie was recently adopted into a home; however, the resident female yorkie didn't like sharing her person with Bonnie, so we all agreed that it would be best for Bonnie to return to her foster home. Bonnie gets along with all dogs, so there was no problem on her part. She is a real little princess. NOTE: Because of her small size, Bonnie can only be adopted into an adult home or a home with teenagers.

Please don’t turn away from Bonnie because of her age –she deserves to live out her life, which could be 7-8 years more years, in a fairly quiet and compassionate home where she knows nothing but love, and where she will never, ever have to be re-homed again. Do you have room in your home and heart for Bonnie?

UPDATED BIO 05/23/2012 BONNIE is 11 years old and weighs 6.4 lbs – she is being fostered in Ft. Myers, FL. She has had several owners in her lifetime and so deserves a home that she will never ever have to leave. Bonnie came into UYR with an unknown skin condition, which caused her skin to be very red, itchy, irritated and at times blisters would form on the surface. It was initially thought that she was highly allergic to cats (and she may still be), but there are no cats in her foster home and her skin condition wasn’t improving after a few weeks. She has been on prednisone therapy twice already, and her skin has cleared up and her beautiful hair is growing back in. Bonnie is on a limited ingredient diet now, and is bathed with a medicated shampoo 1-2x a week and is improving with this routine. Bonnie was also covered in fleas when she was surrendered to the vet, so she may have a severe fleabite allergy, and we should soon see a lot of improvement in this little girlie’s skin. She saw the vet today and she was very pleased with her improvement.

She is a very sweet little girl – she would do well in a home with another dog close to her age and size, or Bonnie would also love to be the only little Princess in the home. She is a quiet little demure girlie and gets annoyed with younger dogs’ energy and activity level, so no puppies, please. Bonnie gets so excited when she sees Foster Mom arrive home from work- FM says that she hops like a little rabbit wanting attention – so sweet! NOTE: Because of her small size, Bonnie can only be adopted into an adult home or a home with teenagers.

INITIAL BIO 04/24/2012: MEET BONNIE! Bonnie is 11 years old and weighs 6 lbs – she is being fostered in Ft. Myers, FL. This little munchkin has recently fallen upon sad times. She was owned and loved by her original owner and was treated like a little princess. Her original owner was unable to care for her any longer and a very kind lady who rescues cats brought little Bonnie into her home, where she has lived with lots and lots of kitty cats for two years. Bonnie’s skin was always very irritated and red and very itchy and she would scratch and scratch until she had no hair from her waist to her bottom. The cat rescuer did everything she could for Bonnie and loved her very much, but ultimately had to make the difficult decision that Bonnie needed more care than she was able to give her, so she surrendered her to her vet who contacted rescue.

The vet believes that Bonnie may be highly allergic to cats, so a home with cats is a no-no. Bonnie gets along with other dogs, however, so she would be fine in a home with another dog close to her age and size, or Bonnie would also love to be the only little Princess in the home. Bonnie’s skin is beginning to clear up with medications, good quality food and medicated baths. Bonnie is sad right now because of the recent changes in her life, but she perks up a little more each day when Foster Mom comes home. She is eating a limited-ingredient diet to ensure that she doesn’t have any allergic reactions to food. NOTE: Because of her small size, Bonnie can only be adopted into an adult home or a home with teenagers.
