My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bambi is not a mixed breed pup but pure IN(Indian Native) Dog who was rescued from the streets of India. Please read below to learn more about this ancient breed.

Bambi has a classic IN Dog looks which is sharp, elegant and alert. She has unique markings; she is beautiful brindle (All brown with black strips with little white on the chest) and has a black tail to match. She has the most beautiful expressive eyes which reminds us of Bambi. She is a sweet, confident and out going little pup who is independent yet very loving. She is a very smart little pup who is easy to train. Bambi is well socialized and does good with dogs, cats and young children. She is well on her way to be fully house broke; is crate trained and sleeps through the night without any accident.
Bambi is healthy 15 weeks old pup who has age appropriate vaccinations and deworming.

Bambi is being fostered in Jackson, NJ. Please email us at Rescuewithoutborders@gmail.com for an Adoption Application.

Please read Bambi's story below-

A litter of six pups were born in India in a drain right outside of someone's house. When their Mother would go looking for food the pups would cry for her to return. Irritated by constant whining one day someone just bagged all the six pups in a gunny bag and threw them in a open trash hoping that they would die. As luck would have it an animal lover found them before it was too late and reached out to us to save these pups. It was not safe to keep the pups with their Mother who lives on that street as some people wanted them gone so we took them in our foster home.

These pups have been in our foster care since they were 3 weeks old. Four of the siblings already found great homes in NJ; now we have only Coco and Oreo available for adoption from this litter.

More Info on this breed ---
The Pariah Desi (Local) Dog or IN (Indian Native) Dog is a pure, ancient, indigenous dog of India that abounds the Indian streets. It has evolved entirely through natural selection without human intervention of any kind resulting into a very hardy, extremely intelligent, alert and independent thinking dog.

This is a natural primitive breed which is a direct descendant of the early domesticated dogs. These dogs are found to be genetically healthy with no known genetic diseases and a very strong immune system. They are highly adaptable, quick learners and versatile and are known to be even smarter and definitely calmer than the intelligent Border Collies.

They are very agile and excel at many dog sports such as agility and also make great jogging/running companions. They excel at outdoor sports like agility and lure coursing. While active outdoors, they are usually calm and quiet indoors. Most of these dogs have tremendous stamina and hence need an active family who will take them for a daily brisk walk or a run.

INDogs dogs are sensitive by nature and do not respond well to harsh training methods and hence need an even tempered, gentle but firm and loving owner who knows how to calmly and consistently communicate the rules of the house.

These dogs love children and are known to have a calm and gentle demeanor around them. They bond strongly with their people and make an excellent family pet that is very loving, loyal, devoted and intelligent. Due to their intuitive nature and the strong bond they develop with their people they are much attuned to their surroundings and with training can make excellent Therapy dogs. These dogs do not bark much but are always alert; they are friendly yet wary of strangers and make good watch dogs.

IN/Desi dogs are low maintenance dogs as they are generally very healthy and like to stay clean; they hardly shed and have virtually no doggy odor. Their smooth, fine coat is easy to groom. They have an all weather coat that allows them to easily adapt to different weather conditions.

A well-looked after pet IN dog will rarely need to see a vet and may live a healthy life of up to the age of 12 – 16 +years. This is a medium size dog with an average height of 20-25 inches (51-64 cms) at the shoulder and generally weight about 28-45 pounds (12 – 20 kgs).

This natural primitive breed of dog is way superior to the artificially developed breeds as they are perfectly adapted for survival. A free-roaming life on the street for these dogs is always difficult and often hostile and hence requires high order of intelligence, quick and independent thinking to survive. On the streets it is the survival of the fittest, usually out of a litter some will get run over by cars while others will succumb to hunger and malnutrition. Only the most hardiest and intelligent ones will survive to produce off springs. When this survivor is adopted as a family Pet, their owners are often awe struck with their beauty, grace, intelligence, loyalty and hardiness.
