My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER, LA., OR SURROUNDING AREA! This pet can also be viewed at www.RoadtoRescueLA.org

Cooper (male) 9 MONTH OLD CHIHUAHUA MIX – UTD ON ALL SHOTS AND NEGATIVE FOR HEART AND INTESTINAL PARASITES – HOUSETRAINED!
CONTACT: dob135@comcast.net (preferred) or call 318-518-3520
Cooper was a stray that was on death’s door. Cooper is current on all of his shots and has passed a physical, been dewormed, poked and prodded and has passed all of his tests. He is a bite on his left jaw that is still swollen but has been drained by the vet and is healing. Cooper is on antibiotics for it. He is 10-11 inches high and 15-16 inches long. He weighs 14 pounds and is approximately 9 months old. He has not had a potty accident inside yet. We are not sure if he is an inside dog or an outside dog, but we keep him inside. He was severely malnutritioned when we found him about a week and a half ago, so he is still recovering from that but seems to be responding well. He has a very sweet disposition and needs a loving family who has time to really pay a lot of attention to him. He is extremely afraid of people and acts scared to death at this point, but we see him relaxing daily. He wags his tail when we come home, etc. We have not tried to train him because, at this point, he needs to trust people again. We can get his vet records and he has seen the vet only last week for another round of updates. I am of the opinion that he needs to be the only dog in the house, but I do not know how he will respond to anything once he is not so afraid. It seems that he has been abused or has had a really rough for 9 months because he is afraid of his own shadow. He is a great puppy, and does not potty in the house or bite or growl at us. Won’t you give sweet Cooper a loving, responsible home?

There is a screening and/or application process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to NINNA’S ROAD TO RESCUE, a 501c3 non-profit organization, of $30 so that they can continue their Adoption Assistance Program for area pets in need and to help assure I go to a good home. Once you adopt me, PLEASE get me spayed/neutered to help control the HUGE overpopulation and euthanasia rate in this area. Robinson’s Rescue low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic (Shreveport) offers special low-cost pricing for spaying and neutering. Call 318-221-0017 for your spay/neuter appointment ONLY, not about me! Also, be sure to keep me on a monthly heartworm preventive. Dogs get heartworms from mosquitoes and the only way to protect me is with a monthly preventive that you get from your vet!

If you need to rehome a pet and want your pet posted here and adoptapet.com, e-mail roadtorescue@bellsouth.net for more information on what we need to post your animal.

Please also consider donating to Ninna’s Road to Rescue. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible. All donations go towards our small dog breed facility and towards the continuance of our Adoption Assistance Program to assist pet owners in re-homing their pets. Please visit www.RoadtoRescueLA.org for donation information.
