Roxanne's Story...
Roxanne ... those days are over ... no more needing to walk the streets not caring if it's wrong or if it's right.

Roxanne was abandoned at Chesapeake Animal Services. She was filthy and thin as a rail. They cleaned her up and fed her well. Surprise! Five days or so later she paid them back with four puppies. Needless to say all of her puppies have found homes while Roxanne still waits for hers.

She is a wonderful, loving companion. She gets along well with other dogs and everyone she meets! Unfortunately, she is heartworm positive and will require an adopter willing to help her through both treatment and recovery. Chesapeake Humane has the funds to cover her treatment but not an appropriate home for her during treatment and recuperation.

If you would like to meet this loving lady to see if she is an appropriate addition for your home please call 546-5355.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Roxanne, a Chesapeake Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Chesapeake, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Chesapeake.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chesapeake already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chesapeake breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chesapeake paves the way for another one to be saved.
