Eddie's Story...
Eddie's owner turned him in because he "didn't have time for him." The best way to describe his personality is very, very laid back. He doesn't try to jump on you and is not "barky". In fact, the shelter staff has said they haven't heard him bark one time!

His favorite thing to do is to lay in the sun in his dog run. If you walk down the shelter at any given time you'll find him laying in the sun just watching the outdoors from inside his kennel (half of the dog run is inside the building while the other side is facing the outdoors). You have to wonder what he thinks for hours on end. He's probably thinking about what it would be like to run on grass or just to be outside.

Nothing seems to upset Eddie. The staff stated that when they are hosing down his concrete run he just stands there and doesn't run off to the other end like most dogs do. It's as if he really is trying to make the best of his situation. When we had him out taking his pictures I decided to walk him in the cat room portion of the shelter. He was not phased a bit. So, it's apparent he gets along with just about anything.

Can you help fulfill Eddie's dream of making it out of this shelter to run and play on grass again? He would make a great outside dog. Again, all he wants to do is lay and watch the day go by.

He's only about a year old.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Eddie, a Shelbyville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Shelbyville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Shelbyville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Shelbyville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Shelbyville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Shelbyville paves the way for another one to be saved.
