Francesca's Story...
This dog, 2 year old Francesca, along with several others, was recently rescued from a puppy mill situation. Adopting a puppy mill dog is not like adopting any other dog you typically find at a shelter or rescue. They lived in crates, are not socialized to humans, and take a lot of time to rehabilitate. They are not the type of dog that everyone should adopt, but for those who are willing to have patience, perseverance, dedication, training, a gentle hand and voice, and time, a puppy mill dog can be a very rewarding experience. If you have children in your family they should be at least 12 years of age.

From what FAPL staff and volunteers have seen thus far these Chihuahuas have very sweet temperaments. If you are you up to the challenge of introducing them to the world and showing them what it's like to be love and cared for, please visit FAPL and speak to Greg Willey, Director or a staff member.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Francesca, a Elyria Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
