Harry's Story...
Harry is a 7 month old un-neutered male Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix. Harry doesn't realize he's a little guy. He is full of fun and frolic, enjoys squeaky toys and bonds quickly with humans. Harry is well mannered on lead and attentive to his handler. He likes his lap time and is very loving but you have to watch his kisses they are sometimes little love nips. Harry knows to sit and is quick to respond for treats. Since he came to the shelter as a stray his behavior with children, cats and other dogs is unknown. It appears Harry is not fully house trained. From his yip to his pert little tail this fellow will make a great little companion. If you are looking for a four-legged BFF you should stop in for a visit with Harry. If not claimed he'll be ready for a home August 31st after 6pm..

If you want to apply for Harry click here. You can then email the application to the Meridian Humane Society.Applications are now being accepted, and a visitation with the dog is encouraged. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harry, a Meridian Rat Terrier/Dachshund puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier/Dachshund for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Rat Terrier/Dachshund puppy from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier/Dachshund breeders who help with Rat Terrier/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
