Dixie's Story...

Duke, Dixie, and Dotty are 3 playful pups left from a litter of puppies in Flint. Their mom's owner was moving and couldn't take the puppies so she gave them to their foster mom at Last Chance Rescue to avoid them being sent to the pound and at 5 weeks old, that was a great decision! Within the two weeks of fostering they have grown so much. They are eating well, are now de-wormed, and love playing with their grown up foster brother and sister. They are growing up around kids, cats, and big dogs so they are definitely social and confident. They love running through the grass under the sun as much as cuddling on a lap for a quiet nap.

If you want to take one of these sweet little babies into your life, please contact their foster mom at or (810) 627-1150 to get a pre-adopt form and for more information.

They will also be at the PetSmart in Brighton on September 8, 2012, when they will be about 8 weeks old and ready for their forever homes!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Howell American Pit Bull Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Howell, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier puppy from a breeder in Howell.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Howell already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Howell breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Howell paves the way for another one to be saved.
