Meet Flower! 2y/o Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd MIX 51lbs
Flower will make a fantastic companion for the right family. She is a phenomenal guard dog – her bark sounds like it emanates from a dog twice her size! When greeting guests she sits right next to her person to determine the newcomer’s intentions – no lunging, no jumping. She takes a while to warm to strangers relying on cues from her person. She’ll seem a fierce animal to anyone on the outside of your home while being an incredibly sweet girl to all her family inside!
Flower responds quickly to all basic commands, plus “wait” & “place”. She has been taught manners when entering and exiting – sitting and waiting to be allowed in/out. She also waits for the “ok” to eat her meals. She has a soft mouth and takes her treats gingerly; she does not react when food/toys are taken away from her. She is perfect on leash and will remain nearby off leash. Outside she will not “run off” – she remains close to her house and will not stray. She does not jump on furniture and is not destructive in general. She does not jump up on people or lick excessively. Overall she is very calm, and will happily lay down wherever her person is. She is not skittish or nervous and is undisturbed by construction, gardeners or other ordinary stimuli. She has a beautiful, low-maintenance coat and she is easy to towel-down after a rainy/muddy walk!
Flower is a submissive, very sensitive girl who requires a family that will have experience, patience and time to introduce her to a solid routine and set boundaries intensively for at least 3 weeks. She is working on solidifying her house-training and she is in the process of learning self-soothing when left alone. She needs to be supervised when meeting new dogs. Cats are an unknown, though she seems unconcerned when they are seen at a distance. She is obsessed with rabbits, so she would not be a good fit for those who have rabbits as pets. Some men intimidate her; however she does overcome these fears given enough time and treats.
