Ruff Ruff! My name is Dahlia
|Breed:||Rat Terrier Mix||Color:||Unknown||Age:||Unknown|
I am already spayed, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Dahlia was brought in to the Denver shelter as a stray. She had recently weaned puppies and was emaciated. She was also mistaken for a Chihuahua but is actually a Rat Terrier mix. She has little patches of white on her toes, neck and chin but her coat is mostly black.
Dahlia is a sweet and silly little girl with a lot of personality. Dahlia is active and playful, almost cat-like sometimes. Walks are fun for her. She likes a bit of tug of war, but goes nuts for the plush toys. Since she is so food motivated, it's easy to get her full attention with a handful of treats. She is used to a kennel but the door is left open for her, because it makes her feel cornered so she will sometimes growl defensively if it's closed. She also growls when she wants attention or wants to play. However, doesn't bark too much.
Dahlia is just like a cat in that she has picked out her favorite elevated perches around the house. She likes cuddle up on a nice warm lap or next to someone on a chair. And at night she’ll wiggle herself under the covers. She gets along with other dogs, but really big dogs frighten her. She likes to be the alpha dog. She is good with children as long as they're gentle and respectful.
Dahlia really deserves a forever home after all the ordeals she has endured. Would you like to make her a part of your family?

We coordinate with other shelters and rescue groups to help spread the word about homeless pets on a regular basis. Our philosophy is that each pet deserves a loving home and a long, healthy, happy life. We do everything in our power to ensure pets receive the training, veterinary care, and loving attention needed in order to provide a "happy ending" for everyone! We operate a volunteer-run thrift store in Breckenridge, Colorado to help fund our operations so we can help as many pets as possible. "For Pets' Sake" is located at 203 N. Main Street in Breckenridge. The shop's phone no. is (970) 453-4339.
We hold adoption events several times monthly at PetSmart and Petco locations in Denver, Aurora, and Loveland, Colorado. Check out website's home page for upcoming events, locations, and times: www.animalrescueoftherockies.org
