My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GRACEY
Born Dec. 2011, Blue Cream Highland Scottish Fold

Gracey is a beautiful kitten. She showed up in a shelter in the middle of nowhere at the tender age of about 7-8 months. She had been found wandering stray and was turned in to the shelter. Who would let such a lovely kitten outside to roam? The shelter personnel had her on display and up for adoption for a month and were shocked that no one claimed her or adopted her. It was fortuitous that one of our volunteers was traveling through this State when we got the call.

Gracey was a tad upset about her move and a bit shaken up by being in a shelter so young. She was a little nervous at first but now she has perked up quickly and had acclimated to being in a home environment and is totally thriving. She is getting better with being held, but she is affectionate and very sweet. She has spent so much of her young life in a cage she is ready to enjoy live and her surroundings.

The Scottish Fold is a cat breed with a natural dominant-gene mutation that makes the ear cartilage contain a fold, causing the ears to bend forward giving them an owl like appearance. Gracey is what we call a Highland Fold which is the long haired variety of the breed. She is a bit out of coat right now from being in the shelter, but with time her coat will fill out and be shiny and thick again. She is considered a blue cream Highland Fold.

At first Gracey was not good with other cats but after a couple of days she is doing fine and actually enjoys the company of other felines. We think over time she would love to bond with a feline companion. She seems disinterested in the small dog in the household, but the dog is very calm and quite. It is fun to see her getting back to her kitten self and tearing around the house with the other foster kittens. She is a real beauty and we do not expect her to be in rescue long. Finding a kitten like this in a shelter is such a rarity, don't wait too long if you've been looking for a young Fold!

Gracey is fostererd in Davis, CA
