My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE NEED SERIOUS FOSTER TO ADOPT HOMES FOR OUR KITTIES.  We need commintted families that will continue to treat our babies with the help of our vet until any and all diseases are GONE.  This research project has really uncovered some very important data to help cat lovers and their vets find ways to help diagnose and treat these hiding diseases so that cats and kittens can have longer painfree lives.

UPDATE: March 2013

UPDATE: March 2013 Mikey on Facebook

Mikey is GORGEOUS, so playful and cuddly.  He is part of our kitty tick borne disease testing program.  We didn't infect them- we just started testing cats as we do the dogs in our program and once we found out that their momma Marshmallow was infected with Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever (probably from a tick bite when she was looking for a suitor) we started treating the babies at 9 weeks old with the support of our vet.

Mikey was treated for several months and follow up testing shows he is infected with Ehrlcihia (which must have been hiding in momma cat) and Lyme disease.  THANK GOODNESS we tested as we can only imagine the lifespan of a kitten or cat infected with 3 tick borne diseases is not long.  So Mikey is on his meds and growing like a WEED.  He is 10lbs at 7 1/2 months old and has the potential of growing to 16lbs or more as an adult.  Marshmallow only weighed in at 8lbs upon arrival.  So what we need is a willing, caring foster to adopt home that can continue his medication until future testing shows he is COMPLETELY NEGATIVE so that he goes on to live to be 20 years old or more!!!!!

Summer 2012: THESE KITTENS ARE THE BOMB!!!  They are so friendly, playful AND CONFIDENT and are little motors in cute little furrballs!  We are having so much fun with them!!!  If I could find a foster home for Pee Wee and Mikey together- that would make me sooooooo happy as they are best buddies and love to play with each other and snuggle together too. Here are new photos of them from IBR Facebook.

Here are new photos of Marshmallow and her boys Pee Wee, Mikey and the Duffster on Facebook and new videos on Youtube . The kids are active like little jumping beans and are very affectionate and curious about everything!

9-18-12: We are in need of new foster homes for our little furr balls. These little babies are now 9 weeks old and ready for foster to adopt. If you can help us out, please submit a Foster Home App

9-2-12 Marshmallow and her kittens Buffy Buff, Duffy Duff, Mikey Muff, Pee Wee Puff and Snoopy Snuff are all doing great! Check out their Facebook Album and Videos . They have the bestest caring foster mom ever and she has taken amazing care of the kids and even did supplemental feedings when Marshmallow seemed weak. We estimate that the babies were born the week of July 16th.  Kittens will be available for adoption around September 17th when they will be 9 weeks old.

8-1-12 Marshmellow and the Fluff litter are our very first momma cat and kitten foster care project. The kittens are only about 12 days old and will be available for adoption the end of September. If you are interested in this family through our rescue organization, please go to the Adopting A Cat section to read about our pre-adoption policies and vetting protocols. ALL CATS AND KITTENS must be kept as indoor pets.
