Ricki's Story...

Thank you for your interest in one of our rescues.

Thank you for your interest in one of our rescues

Ricki was lucky. Three days after giving birth to 6 kittens under a bush in the backyard of a housing project, she was taken into rescue by GSR and a new chapter in her life started. The kittens were born on Friday, July 13th in hundred degree heat.
She took to indoor life and the comforts of a soft bed, constant food source not far from her babies and learning she was safe from mother nature and dogs and cruel people. She was a great mom and one week later allowed a rescued three week old kitten to join her nursing crew and they became one family. Mom and babies ( Mags, Churchill, Target and Finnick) were either Gray or Black and Yoda was solid orange and three times the size but it did not matter. She loved them all.
Now her kids, all 5 of them, are weaned and eating on their own but Mom still lets them nurse ( even Yoda who is about 9 weeks old now) for short spells when she is in the mood, but she is ready to get her girly figure back and send these kids on their way to homes of their own. Ricki will be spayed on September 9th and then ready for adoption. She is a sweet gentle soul and would do well as an only cat or could share space with another . Once she does not have her kittens to protect she will be more open with fellow cat mates.
Ricki is about a year old and tested neg for aids/leukemia and will be up to date on all her shots as of September 9th. She is small in size and will not be a big cat.
She is ready for all the attention to be shared with her now, instead of giving it all to the kittens and watching them get lots from their foster mom.
