Hello! My name is Brutus
|Species:||Chinchilla||Color:||Silver Or Gray||Age:||Adult|
I am not good with kids and not good with small animals.
Brutus the chinchilla would LOVE a home where he is the only chin! He does not like sharing any of his stuff, especially his bed. He is great with dogs and cats, but would be better off in a no-child home that is relatively low stress.When he came to us he had a habit of chewing the fur over his flanks, but after a few weeks in our care it has all grown back. Brutus is a smart boy, who is very trusting, around the right person…he just needs someone who understands how scary it can be to be a little man in a big world. His cage is his castle, and he rather not share any of his stuff. He loves to run around a chin-safe room, and plays with every single toy we buy him. Please consider sharing your life with this special boy, he is so deserving of a best friend!

Rescue Group Info...
Chin Friends Chinchilla Rescue was started because the exotic pet trade in our country is busier than ever before. With the availability of these animals, many people impulse-purchase them, not realizing the commitment they are making. It gets overwhelming for some, and others didn’t quite realize the financial commitment or time commitment. Some people just lose interest, or their lifestyle changes and the pet does not fit in anymore. There are not many resources for people with exotic pets, and we aim to provide that for chinchilla owners.
We also realize great pet owners are made- not born that way, and each one of our adopters will have access to help, suggestions and any support they may need in the future.
All of our chinchillas are in private foster home, so we do not allow the general public to see the chinchillas without first filling out the adoption application. Once an adopter is approved, we will be happy to set up a private meeting so you can meet any chinchillas you are interested in adopting.
Unlike some rescues, we do not require a home inspection. We do require that you are prepared to agree to some basic expectations, including providing a proper cage, veterinary care from an exotic specialist, air conditioning, and a clean, quiet, smoke-free environment.
There is an adoption application available for download on our web site, and there is a $100 adoption fee per chinchilla. After filling out an application, one of our volunteers will speak with you for more information.
Chin Friends Chinchilla Rescue is located in Suffolk
County, on Long Island, NY, and will serve most of
Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, Bronx
