Meow! My name is Ellie
|Breed:||Domestic Shorthair||Color:||Orange Or Red Tabby||Age:||Adult|
I am already spayed, a special needs pet, and up to date with shots.
Ellie lived in a feral colony for three years, but wasn't being allowed to eat by the other cats. It was decided that she had a "failure to thrive". I think not! Some pro biotics and lots of love have turned her into a pretty, big, adoptable, girl! Now we call her Ellie Belly! Although she is healthy in all other respects her vision is not good. We've always noticed that her pupils remain dilated. Our veterinary eye specialist, Dr. Buss, recently told us that she has a degenerative retinal condition and is slowly losing her sight. There's nothing we can do to stop it. She is in no pain. It's been so gradual, that she doesn't even realize she's not like everyone else. The bad thing about living with us, is that we have lots of cool perches and climbing areas and a very hard floor. One thing visually impaired kitties need is safety. Ellie is super affectionate, gets around great and even plays. If you can provide her with a safe living environment, please come meet her!

Help this Shelter by making a donation.
Feline Friends should be your first choice in South Florida for quality cat adoptions. Visit our adoption center located on the border of Broward County and Palm Beach County in Deerfield Beach.
Feline Friends is a volunteer run, non-profit, 501c3 organization. Our purpose is to uphold and strengthen our portion of the "safety net." All of the cats in our adoption center are rescued. We strive to put an end to the needless killing of stray and feral cats in our area by facilitating sterilization, increasing education, and doing adoptions.
We assist the local feral cat population by educating the public about the trap-neuter-return solution advocated by Alley Cat Allies.
Finally, there are the adoptions. These are done seven days a week out of our adoption center. Our facility is everything a cat's home should be since, right now, we are their home. It is clean, tranquil, and fun. Adoptions are where we shine. We really know the individual personalities of each one of our kitties and can help you find your purrfect soul mate.
We are funded entirely by private donations and small grants. If you would like to help us continue our work, please remember us throughout the year with your 100% tax deductible donations. Also please include us in your trusts and bequests.
Call us to arrange for a visit. See what we are all about! Donatations of food, toys, bedding, carriers, and furniture are always welcome too!
Adoptions are done seven days a week out of our adoption center. Please call first since we are all just volunteers. You must be over the age of 25, and if you live in an apartment we need proof that you've paid your pet deposit.
All adopters are carefully screened, and there is a legal contract to be filled out. In most situations the adoption fee is $85 for adults and $125 for kittens. Each cat/kitten will have received at least one full set of vaccinations including boosters. They will have been wormed, treated for other parasites with either Advantage or Revolution, FIV/Leukemia tested, and been neutered.
100% of the adoption fee money is put right back into the daily operational expenses of running our adoption center. Thank you for your support!
