The Friends of League City Animal Shelter rescues animals from the shelters, and places them in foster homes, where they can receive the love and care they need. We hold adoption events every weekend. If you would like to meet a specific kitty, please email us beforehand, and we'll make sure it's there. On Saturdays: League City (I-45 @ 646) PETSMART 10am - 3pm & PETCO 12 - 4pm On Sundays: Clear Lake PETCO (Bay Area Blvd @ Space Center) 11am - 3pm You can download an ADOPTION APPLICATION from our PETFINDER HOMEPAGE and submit it to us via email or at the adoption event. Applications submitted via email prior to the weekend can often be pre-approved, meaning you can go to the event and take your pet home that day. We cannot guarantee same-day approval of applications submitted at the event, because there may not be a volunteer working who is authorized to approve applications. Please note that with an approved application, we can sometimes arrange a meeting during the week. Just ask! NOTE: Rescued cats and kittens are exposed to a lot, both on the streets and in the shelter. While we provide them with medical care and vaccinations, they have not been fully examined by a veterinarian. Your adopted pet needs a complete Veterinary exam (including fecal), within about a week of adoption. For more cat and kitten care information, ask your Vet, or visit with our "Friends of LC Shelter" volunteers. Meanwhile, go to, click on Pet Care, then Cat Care. Also good, is - click on Cat Behavior or Cat Health. For local behavior help, go to, point to the link Animal Resources, then click on Behavior Information. Here you will find many helpful tips on behavior issues with cats and kittens. They also provide a phone number, to call their Animal Behavior Specialists for FREE advice - wow. For indepth medical information, go to - they are the cat experts!........FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND HOW TO ADOPT, GO TO OUR PETFINDER HOMEPAGE AT

About Friends of League City Animal Shelter

About Our Rescue Group...

Friends of League City Animal Shelter is a 100% volunteer non-profit rescue group dedicated to improving the lives of unwanted animals through fostering, adoption, and the promotion of spaying and neutering.

We rescue animals from the shelters and place them in foster homes where they receive the love and attention they so desperately need. When the pets are ready for adoption, we introduce them to the public so they can find their forever homes.

We are so thankful for the people of Texas who take our shelter animals into their hearts and homes and provide us with the funds needed to vaccinate and sterilize our shelter animals and strays!!

Look for us at BAYBROOK MALL. We have partnered with the mall to hold adoption events during various holiday events, including Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, and with Macy's during their SHOP FOR A CAUSE event. Look for our MOBILE ADOPTION TRAILER parked outside at the mall entrance between Macy's and Sear's. COME OUT AND SUPPORT THE ANIMALS!

WANT TO HELP? Contact us to learn about our VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES. Our greatest need is for volunteers to work at our WEEKEND ADOPTION EVENTS. It's a lot of fun and you get to play with dogs and kittens! We also need foster parents, a web designer, and volunteers to take on leadership roles in promotions, event planning, volunteer coordination, and fundraising.

Want to help out at one of our area animal shelters? The Galveston County Animal Resource Center in Texas City is struggling with a super-tight budget and is especially desperate for volunteers to play with the animals and help clean everything before they open the doors to the public each day. They need volunteers every day of the week. We hope you can help them out. It's a really nice facility and the staff and volunteers there are awesome!!!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Saturdays - League City PETCO from 12-4pm and PETSMART from 10-3pm. (I-45 @ 646)

Sundays - Clear Lake PETCO from 11-3pm. (Bay Area Blvd @ Space Center)

If you want to meet a particular animal, please email us so we can make sure s/he is there. Can't wait until the weekend? With a pre-approved application we can sometimes arrange a meeting during the week. Just ask!

Our Adoption Process...

Ready to take home a little bundle of love? Submit an Adoption Application via email or in-person at one of our weekend adoption events. We will review your application and discuss your preferences so we can make the best owner-pet match.

Applications submitted via email can usually be pre-approved, meaning that you can attend the event that weekend, select your pet, and take it home with no delay. We cannot guarantee same-day approval of applications submitted at weekend events since there may not be a volunteer on duty who is qualified to make approvals.

Our basic ADOPTION FEE is $75 for cats and $85 for dogs. This covers spaying/neutering, rabies vaccination, and microchip placement with registration. The adoption fee may be slightly higher if we had to pay for any special testing or vaccinations.

We are required to verify that every animal we adopt out gets spayed or neutered. Therefore, there is a $75 deposit that must be paid when adopting a pet that hasn't been sterilized. The deposit is refunded when we receive proof that the animal has been sterilized.
