Shelly's Story...
Hi, my name is Shelly. I was found running across a very busy road in Lusby, MD, and at some point in my young life, I lost half my tail! Despite all the hard knocks I've had, I am a very sweet and shy kitten. My favorite thing to do is sit in your lap purring contentedly. I like to be held and I am getting to know my foster's other kittens and dogs. I would probably not be a good choice for a family with very young children because I might hide from them because I am a shy girl.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a rescue group out of Calvert Cty, Md. We do mostly Trap, Neutered, Return and Maintain (TNRM). Any cat/kitten we feel is or can be handled, we place in a foster home to be socialized further and eventually shown for adoption. As with all rescue groups we need to help the ferals, strays and the kitties that are being "thrown away" or abandoned.
Our Adoption Process...
At this time our adoption fee for kittens is $140 for one and $250 for two. Adults are $100.
Our foster kitties are spay/neutered, microchipped, given rabies and distemper vaccines, treated for fleas and worms and tested for FIV and FELV.
There is an application to fill out, and if approved a contract and 24PetWatch form to sign.
All our adoptable kitties except barn cats are indoor only and no declawing. This is stated in the contract.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Our fosters are mostly in Calvert County,Md with a few fosters in St. Marys's County, Md. We will travel a reasonable distance for a good adoption and on occasion have gone out of state.
We do adoptions at PetCo in California and Prince Frederick, Md., and Petsmart at Arundel Mills, Md.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shelly, a Port Republic Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Port Republic, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Port Republic.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Republic already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Republic breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Republic paves the way for another one to be saved.
