Aspen's Story...
Aspen is a 4 month old Cocker Spaniel mix who gets along well with other dogs. She is very playful and is learning how to become a good "pack" member. She also loves interacting with people and enjoys being held and petted. Aspen uses the doggy door and is crate trained. She would do best with a family who is familiar with the breed and is able to provide consistent training. Aspen is very sweet and would make a wonderful addition to your family. She is current on her vaccinations, flea and tick prevention, and heartworm prevention. Aspen has not yet been spayed, but her sterilization surgery is included in her adoption fee.

****Her adoption fee is $375.****

The Animal Rescue Project is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues—and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Aspen, a Kalamazoo Cocker Spaniel puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Kalamazoo, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel puppy from a breeder in Kalamazoo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Kalamazoo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Kalamazoo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Kalamazoo paves the way for another one to be saved.
