My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

PLEASE CLICK ON "READ MORE ABOUT THIS PET" FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION!

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Ginger and Romeo are a bonded pair of tiny dogs who were rescued from a shelter. Ginger is a puppy like 1 year old yorkie/chihuahua mix and is underweight at 5 pounds--she should weigh 6-7 pounds. Romeo is a 2 year old purebred chihuahua who is also underweight and should be 7-8 pounds. This adorable couple are so sweet, loving and playful that they will be wonderful companions to an adult home. They are fairly quiet without any yapping and they are both house trained. They just love being in the fenced yard and we are requiring a fenced yard for them in their new home. While they love each other they are also snuggly with their foster parents. They also get along with other dogs and with cats, but they are much too fragile for children. Romeo and Ginger are with a 501c3 rescue. Their adoption fee is $400.00. They are spayed and neutered, heartworm negative and on prevention, up to date on all shots and worming as well as flea/tick prevention and they have HomeAgain microchips. These little dogs will live a very long life and we are seeking a home with adults who are under 60 so that they don't end up losing another family.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: Required, or townhome with fence

• Status of adopter: Adult 30-60

• Previous dog owning experience: Preferred

• Age of children: Older teens--no young kids now or ever

• Another dog in the home: They don't need another dog but are okay with other dogs

• Cat(s) in the home: Safe with cats

• Fenced yard: Physically fenced yard required

• Time alone on work days:They can be alone for a work day but prefer someone home more often
