My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If only the International Olympics Committee would allow canines to compete I could have cleaned house in the high jump and hurdles - gold medals all around. I’m not one to boast, but hey, I am what I am, and that is a girl with spunk! I think I’m not bad to look at either with my platinum locks, but I’ll leave that up to you. What I need is a furever home with lots of toys, a fenced yard, a couple of older kids to play Frisbee with and some nice folks to cuddle with. Since I am a tad bit bossy, I would prefer to be the only canine, so I won’t have to waste playtime showing the other dogs who’s the head honcho. I admit I could do with some lessons in obedience because sometimes I jump up on people or to check out what’s to eat on the kitchen counters. I think muddy paw prints on my foster Mom’s clothes don’t exactly please her, but I am a rambunctious teenager and I promise I’ll settle down as I grow up.

Tottie is a gorgeous seven month old sable-headed white collie pup who was found running wild with her sister. Since coming into her foster home two weeks ago she has settled in well although she tends to show some mild aggression towards some of the resident dogs when they are playing or at meal-times. However, she and one of her foster brothers have formed a close bond. She is crate-trained and is fed in her crate. She might do best in a home with only one other dog, or a mellow dog with whom she can bond.

She loves being around her people (foster mom calls her a Velcro dog), but with her youthful exuberance and tendency to jump up on everyone she meets, Tottie may be a too boisterous for small kids. Dog savvy older children would be ideal playmates for her. She ignored cats at the animal shelter. She responds well in obedience class and is completely house trained. Since she is very athletic and has exhibited herding instincts, agility training could be helpful. Her foster Mom also thinks that Tottie’s natural affection and intelligence might make her a great therapy dog once she grows out of the puppy stage.

She loves being groomed and her coat is beginning to respond to good nutrition and frequent brushing. She needs to gain a couple of pounds as she grows into the beautiful young lady she is meant to be. Counter surfing is a current issue, likely due to living on the mean streets and grabbing food wherever she could find it.

Tottie will blossom in a forever home where she receives consistent attention, good food, lots of exercise and loads of collie kisses and cuddles.
