Have you ever snuggled a sunbeam?

Basil is an orange colored tabby with a gorgeous, thick fur coat. Basil is named from a Greek word meaning “royal', and we feel his beautiful fur coat gives him a very regal appearance.
Basil was born in May 2002.

Basil was adopted from us as a kitten in 2002, but was returned a couple of years later because the husband was allergic and insisted on putting him outside. Basil was VERY angry about losing his family, and didn't understand why he couldn't stay.
We adopted him out again quickly, but he was returned again - this time because he was nipping and batting at people.
When he came back the second time, we discovered some terrible matting in his beautiful coat. It turns out that some of his personality 'issues' were actually caused by the pain, as the matted fur pulled on his skin and made him very uncomfortable and touch-sensitive. We had him partially shaved, and that cured the immediate problem -- but he is still afraid of having some parts of his body touched.
Basil would be a wonderful pet for someone with experience and patience. Because of his touch-sensitivity, we feel he would do best in a home where there were no children under 5 years old.

Basil is a friendly cat who wants human companionship, and longs for a family of his own again. He doesn't like a lot of petting or close cuddling, but he will relax and roll on his back and lay next to you, and he loves a head scratching. Is there a place in your home for him?
Call Kitty Corner at 315-457-4420 or fill out our adoption application at to meet our adoptable cats and adopt a new member of your family.

Basil tests negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped, and all shots are up to date.

Kitty Corner has a lifetime return policy. If your adopted cat needs to be rehomed at any time, just bring them back to us. We want to be sure that none of our cats is ever homeless again.

Thank you for looking at our cats!

About KittyCorner of CNY, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

At Kitty Corner, we are NOT a shelter. We are "cat rescuers" -- volunteers who live with the rescued cats in our own homes. We provide shelter, veterinary care and a chance for a new life in a loving home for cats who have been abandoned or who never had a home at all due to the overwhelming number of homeless pets.
We are all volunteers and 100% of every donation is used for the care of the cats.

When a cat first comes to us, they are briefly caged and isolated until they see our vet. They are checked for parasites and diseases. We provide vaccinations and any other veterinary care they may need. We also spay or neuter any cat who is old enough.
The healthy, altered cats are then evaluated for personality and placed in one of our four "cat rooms". When necessary, we work to overcome behavior or emotional problems so that the cat will be a happy, adoptable pet.

We try to match each cat with the person or family for whom it is best suited. The happiness of the cat and its new "people" is our first priority. In the last few years, we have taken in hundreds of cats and placed almost all of them in caring, responsible homes.

Kitty Corner is firmly committed to the idea that once a cat comes to us, it will never be homeless again. We have a life-long "cat back" guarantee. If an adoption doesn't work out at any time, for any reason, we ask that you to return the cat to us.

Come Meet Our Pets...

If you see a particular pet listed that you might like to meet, please call or e-mail and we'll tell you all about him or her.
If you are just looking to meet our cats available and see if one "clicks" with you, that's fine too!
Once you've completed the adoption application, either online or by phone, we'll invite you to meet our kitties. All of our adoptable cats are housed in the same location, so you will be able to meet everyone in one visit. We are located in Liverpool, NY.

Our Adoption Process...

Whether you have already found a cat or kitten you like in our adoptive listings, or if you just want to come and meet all our cats available for adoption, the first step is the application.

The first step to adopting is the adoption application. Our adoption application can be done over the phone 315-457-4420 or online at our website under the "adopt" link; or here's a direct link

We request an adoption donation for our cats and kittens, which helps us to offset a little of our veterinary costs.
All cats, even the kittens, must be sterilized before going to new homes. We believe strongly in pediatric spay-neuter, a practice that can be used with kittens as young as eight weeks.
