My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

DaVinci (Vinny to his friends) was previously adopted out by SHRF two years ago but now his owner is no longer able to keep him and Vinny has returned to us in the hopes of finding a loving, forever home.

Being what we call a “talker”, Vinny can be very vocal, and woos and yips to let you know his wants. He knows “sit” and “lie down” and will often "heel" when corrected appropriately.

He gets along with both male and female dogs but, because he is so strong, he may unintentionally be a little rough with smaller dogs. DaVinci has shown he has NO tolerance for cats, so a cat free household is a must. Vinny is good with kids but his exuberance may be a bit much for unsteady toddlers as he may just inadvertently bump into them.

He has learned to entertain himself with his toys and dog bones, or if there are no other dogs nearby will run around and play ball by himself. Vinny will thrive better in a home where there is someone around a good part of the day and he is not left alone for too long. The best of all worlds would be a home with another dog his size so he can play, wrestle and otherwise expend some of his almost boundless energy. He enjoys walks and does well on a leash but be prepared for a hearty yank if he sees a squirrel or other small animal. He needs his exercise daily whether it’s a couple of long walks or occasional trips to the dog park.

As is typical of Huskies, DaVinci is an escape artist, so he should be watched if left alone in the yard. The average four foot chain-link fence will not even slow Vinny down if a cat comes into view so we recommend something higher and more opaque if at all possible. We do not recommend any of those electric fences because they will not stop a Husky (or many other breeds) once their sight is on something their instinct says is prey.

Vinny is healthy, Heartworm negative, housebroken, neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots, in other words “Ready To Go”, so don’t miss out on this opportunity; fill out an adoption application on our web site, WWW.SIBERRESCUE.COM, and add some adventure to your life.
