Major's Story...
"They call me, "Tall, Blonde, and Handsome." Actually, my name is Major and I'm a 3 year old Lab/Greyhound mix. I weigh about 75 lbs, but most of my size comes from my long legs. I'm very tall, and people can't stop from staring at how handsome I am.

I love to play with toys and chew on bones. I have two doggy brothers that I really enjoy playing with. I've never seen a "kitty cat" before, so I'm not sure whether we would be friends or not. One of my favorite things to do is to look out the window (and I can do this because I'm so tall). I can be kind of a goofball sometimes, but I am actually a very enlightened intellectual (or so I like to think).

One of my goals in life is to protect and keep my family happy. I love being with my people and am perfectly fine enjoying a night in, snuggling up next to my foster mommy and brothers. I am very well-behaved, housetrained, and smart. I know several tricks, and am very obedient - I just want to please my foster mommy (plus, I get yummy treats). I walk well on a leash, but may try to chase a squirrel if I get so lucky to see one (I'm going to get you one day, squirrel, I promise!). Come meet me soon, my foster mommy says there's no way you can't fall in love with me."

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Major, a New York Golden Retriever/Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever/Greyhound for sale in New York, or seeking a Golden Retriever/Greyhound dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever/Greyhound breeders who help with Golden Retriever/Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
