Meeko's Story...
Hi, there! My name is Meeko and I have quite a story! I ended up in a county pound as a stray with a tag with my name and phone number, but the number was disconnected. Then I was supposed to be euthanized (that's a nice way of saying killed), but a nice person agreed to foster me. Then when she could no longer keep me, the Rescue said that no one would want to adopt me and they never had me come to adoption events or even put me on their website because I am a senior dog and so they decided to euthanize me, too! But my foster person wasn't going to let that happen, so she found Tuffie's Animal Rescue and now I am in a foster home again and very happy, except that I would love to be in my forever home instead of another temporary one.

Even though I am a senior, I have a lot of life left in me that I want to share with you! I am mostly deaf, but can hear you if you clap or say my name loudly. The vet said I had some arthritus in my joints, so I am taking a supplement which helps, but what has helped me the most is that I have been on a diet and as I have lost weight, my energy and mobility has greatly increased. I will now run to the door if I think we are going for a walk or a ride in the car, my most favorite things to do besides eating and getting belly rubs! I am housetrained and bark very rarely, so I won't cause you any trouble. I am fine with other dogs and cats and kids, but older ones who don't want to climb on me would be best. I am neutered, current on shots and micro chipped so I won't ever get lost again! I weigh around 70 pounds and am supposed to be about 12 years old. My adoption donation is $100. I know that there is the perfect family or person just looking for a great, low maintenance doggy like me! To get an application and/or make an appointment to meet me in person, please email Diane@TARescue.com or call (925) 209-6480 or (623) 587-9119.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a small, non-profit group of dedicated volunteers who rescue dogs and cats that are going to be euthanized usually for lack of space. We have taken many animals that have been considered "unadoptable" and have found them wonderful homes with families that couldn't imagine life without them! Our motto is "saving one pet won't change the world, but how the world will change for that one pet" and the person or family that adopts it. We operate through foster families. We received our 501(c)3 status in 2005, beginning in Pleasanton, CA and then moving to Phoenix, AZ. We have animals fostered in both places, so please don't let distance stop you form inquiring about a pet that interests you. One of our foster "moms" has been rescuing horses, so we hope to be listing those for adoption soon, too. If you are interested in volunteering or donating money or other items, please don't hesitate to call or email. We will always try to accomadate you or point you in the right direction.
Come Meet Our Pets...
We currently hold Adoption Fairs every other Saturday at Amazon Aquariums and Pets in the shopping center on the southeast corner of 43rd Avenue and Thunderbird between 1pm and 4pm. Call the store at (602) 978-5287 to confirm. We are a foster based group and are also very willing to meet you at other times and places that can be mutually arranged.
Our Adoption Process...
Generally adoption donations are $250 for small dogs and puppies and $200 for bigger dogs, kittens are $100 and cats are $75. There are exceptions and each pet's adoption donation is usually listed in its bio. Our pets are usually fixed, current on shots and micro chipped. We have a pre-adoption form for you to fill out and often do home visits. We strive to make it the perfect match, but we ALWAYS want the pet returned if it doesn't work out. Adoption donations are refunded within the first two weeks minus $50, if you need to return your pet.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Greater Phoenix area and the East Bay of san Francisco, too! We started in northern CA and still make trips to that area and have adopted animals and foster families in both areas!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Meeko, a Phoenix Labrador Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Phoenix, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Phoenix.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Phoenix already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Phoenix breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Phoenix paves the way for another one to be saved.
