My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Otis. He is a 4 to 5 year old beautiful black and white Shih Tzu. He weighs about 13 pounds. Otis is learning to trust people again. His initial response is to run and hide. You can find him underneath the bed on many days. But once he is a little comfortable, he will hang out on top of the bed. He does like to people watch when his family is not home; and he naps in the window watching in between snoozes. He is housetrained, but may have accidents if he does not get out because of his hiding. Despite his shyness, he likes his people. He will attach especially to one person in the family. He likes to cuddle, if he chooses to get on your lap…versus when you choose. He likes to sleep with his people, but again, it has to be his decision. He will require a secure fenced yard. He is a darter. Given a chance, he will bolt, which may be how he ended up in rescue. He does walk on a leash OK, but you must hold a leash securely. A home with small children running in and out may give him too much time to run for it in the early months at home. Otis is neutered but will have vaccinations and a dental cleaning. After that point, he will be available for adoption. If you are interested in being Otis’ furever family, please click the link to complete an on-line application.
