Gavin's Story...
Gavin is a 25 pound, tri colored, 6 yr old, male, Sheltie. He was found by a family who fed him for a few weeks on their front porch before they called animal control to come pick him up. He was taken to a high kill shelter in Carroll County Ga. He did not make it to the adoption area, so HLHR stepped in to help.

Gavin's coat was matted, his toenails very overgrown, and he is reluntant to trust anyone. He is shy, but happy once he warms up to his humans. He likes other dogs, and has been fine with all humans as long as they dont force him into affection.

He knows sit, down, and is working on shake. He is crate trained, and Is working on house training. Gavin would benefit from group obedience classes with a positive reinforcement trainer. He also needs a FENCED IN YARD!!

Gavin's $200 adoption fee includes complete vet care.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gavin, a Carrollton Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Carrollton, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Carrollton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Carrollton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Carrollton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Carrollton paves the way for another one to be saved.
