HANK's Story...
Here is HUGGABLE HANK! Hank is participating in the CAMP CANINE PROGRAM and doing well. He is a male shepherd/hound mix that weighs around 61 pounds. His coloring is interesting and if you look closely at his ears, they start as a light brown at the top of his head and turn darker shades of brown until you reach the tips which are outlined in black. Beautiful! He’s a young 3 to 4 years old and appears to be a low to medium energy dog. He loves to be with people but has not shown real interest in playing with other dogs. He’s a little on the shy side and takes a little while to warm up to new people and new environments. Once he warms up to you, however, he will play one on one with you. He likes to hang out with his people and be in close proximity to his best buds. He may seem like your shadow at times, but just wants to know that you’re there for him. When HANK finishes the 8-10 week CAMP CANINE PROGRAM, he will be an AKC Good Citizen who knows basic commands (sit, stay, down) and other skills he’ll need to interact with humans and other dogs. He is fully-vetted, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. Hank is a sweet, sweet dog who has a lot of love to give. He’s looking for that family that will help him feel confident, secure and loved. If you would like to meet HANK or get more information on this love-bug, please give Lisanne at the Humane Society of Oldham County a call at 502-795-7151 or email lisannehsoc@att.net! (Update: Once Hank gets to know the other dogs he loves them! He has played with 2 Collie mixes - one 10 years old and one about 8 months. He’s also played with a Chihuahua and a Lab about 7 years old! He just needs time to build his friendships.)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

HANK, a LaGrange Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in LaGrange, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in LaGrange.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in LaGrange already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a LaGrange breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in LaGrange paves the way for another one to be saved.
