Colt (Courtesy Posting)'s Story...

COURTESY POSTING; 'Hi!  My name is Colt!  I was found wandering in the street after almost being hit by a car.  I am the sweetest boy you will ever meet!  I am a German Shepherd mix, somewhere between 9 mo and a year (old according to the vet), heartworm negative, and he even got me all caught up on my vaccines.  I am going to be a big boy because I am already 65 lbs.  I have a ton of energy and even more love to give!  A few of my favorite things are going for walks, playing fetch (I will bring the ball to you and drop it), snuggling, and playing with the other dogs where I am now.  Right now I am sleeping on the floor next to the human's bed at night and during the day I hang out in a crate with a chew toy.  I already know how to sit and am getting good at stay and come.  I am working on my leash manners, but I am super smart so with a little patience I will have that down soon too.  I am not fixed yet so I will want to make sure wherever I go will get that taken care of before I get any older.  Right now I am living in Mt Vernon, MO and the people here are willing to help me get just about anywhere in driving distance that can give me a home where I can spread my love!  You can call 618-580-1431 if you are interested in giving me a forever home.'

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Colt (Courtesy Posting), a St. Louis German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
