UPDATE: Charley REALLY needed surgery for his luxating Patellas, so it was done on 8/1/12. He is in a new foster home now and will start rehab after his stitches are removed in 2 weeks. Please help us pay for Charley’s surgery by clicking on the ChipIn button below! Charley will be ready for his forever home by 9/30/12!
Cute little Charley is happy ALL the time and gets along well with everyone he has met, dogs and people alike! He was born March 9, 2008, so is young in Griffy years, and weighs just 8 lbs. Charley is working on his house training and leash training, and learning quickly. He is looking for someone that won't leave him alone for more than a couple of hours at a time, and a home with another small dog he can play with. His priority is to be with his person and return their love a hundredfold! Charley needs a securely fenced yard and because of his small size, will not be placed in a home with large dogs or children under 12 years old.
Charley had severe luxating patellas in both back knees. This surgery normally costs as much as $3,000 per knee but we found a wonderful veterinarian that fixed both knees for $700! Any donation that you make for Charley's surgery is tax deductible since ABGRA is a non-profit charity organization. You may use this ChipIn button to make a donation so Charley can run without pain. If you would prefer to mail a donation, please make it payable to ABGRA and mail it to the ABGRA Treasurer at 300 Wexford Dr., Lemont, IL 60439. Any amount donated will be gratefully accepted!
Charley is neutered, heart worm negative, UTD on vaccinations and ready for his special person after rehabilitation (probably by 10/1/12)! He is being fostered near Burneyville OK. We prefer to place Charley within driving distance of his foster home. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get him and he must fly home in the cabin with his new family. Under no circumstances can he ever be shipped in cargo.
If you are interested in adopting sweet little Charley, please submit an adoption application at www.abgra.org. If you have questions, please contact us at the email link below.
Rescue Group Info...
American Brussels Griffon Rescue Alliance Inc. (ABGRA) came into being to meet the needs of the Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers who are abandoned, might be abandoned, or whose circumstances we can improve. We will endeavor to accept these Griffs, regardless of their circumstance, knowing that we might be their last hope. We strive to leave no Griff behind.
We are especially mindful of the Griffs that have spent their lives in commercial breeding facilities and who will have a chance at a better life through our efforts.
ABGRA is a non-profit national rescue group founded to provide commercially bred Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers a chance at living in a home for the first time as a pet.
All adoptions are placed by application through our website-
Our adoption donations are from $200 - $350 and reflect the vetting costs incured for each dog as well as some dogs whose costs far exceed the donation.
We interview all references provided and require a home visit before placements. An adoption contract is required. If the dog is returned within 30 days, a refund will be issued. ABGRA requires adopters be 25 years old, or older, and are looking for stable permanent adoptors. In most cases, these breeds are not recommened for families with young children or for people who are not home for long periods of time. They are the perfect pet for someone who can take their dog to work with them, work from home, or are retired.
ABGRA is a 501-c-3 non-profit national rescue group founded to provide commercially bred Brussels Griffons and Affenpinschers a chance at living in a home for the first time as a pet. We strive to leave no griff behind and rescue these breeds from city/county shelters & commercial breeding facilities when foster home space is available. We are an all volunteer foster home based rescue that provides complete vetting for our dogs prior to adoption.
