My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

September 25, 2012
Whimsy is a sweet, loving Border Collie mix. What she is mixed with is a mystery … lab maybe? She loves people and just wants a home of her own. Whimsy was probably born in December 2011 or January 2012 since she is about 8-9 months old. Whimsy was spayed recently and she also had dew claws on her rear legs removed because they stuck out at odd angles from her legs. They were just waiting to get caught on something! She has recovered well and is full of energy.

Whimsy loves to play and is quite good at entertaining herself when necessary. She isn't demanding and will patiently wait for you to have free time. Whimsy would definitely love to go for a walk every day, but an extremely active or sport home won't be necessary for her to be happy. Whimsy loves children but would probably do better with children 8 years or older since she can be very boisterous and might knock down a younger child.

Whimsy has not had much experience living inside a house. When we first brought her to our home, she barked at the television like it was some horrible beast that was going to get her. She has gotten over that, but many things that we take for granted everyday are new to her. We are also still working on potty training. We are letting her outside every hour or two, but if we forget, she still has accidents sometimes. Whimsy is also learning how to go into her crate on her own. We have been feeding her in her crate and she does well until she gets bored. She will still bark some, at least during the day. At night she is very quiet and settles down in her crate and sleeps nicely.

Whimsy is still learning not to jump on people and we are still working on basic commands. She sits very nicely and will lie down if you offer a treat. She will sit and wait until released when you put her food on the floor. We are still working on leave it and walking on a leash. Right now, she will walk nicely on a leash as long as there aren't too many distractions.
Whimsy is being fostered in Indiana.
