Beautiful Ambrosia (who prefers to be called Brobee) is a brindle American Staffordshire Terrier mix and a lovely dog in both appearance and disposition. The Staffordshire Terrier is known as an intelligent, happy, outgoing, stable, and confident dog. They are gentle and loving towards people and make a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet. Almost always obedient, this dog wants nothing more then to please its guardian. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent dog that is very full of life.
Ambrosia was rescued from Cleveland Animal Control and was born February 2008. At some point, she has suffered a fracture in her front right leg and it healed with a curve. This does not slow her down in any way. Ambrosia is happy, fun, very smart, and LOVES toys. Her favorite game is ball (see our video of her playing soccer with her foster mom). She can get overly excited at the prospect of a toy so we prefer that she have a home without children who may not understand the intensity of Ambrosia’s play. Ambrosia is selective about her animal friends and we recommend that she be an only pet. She smiles the best smiles and has a wide vocabulary of sounds she uses to talk with people.
When Ambrosia arrived at Pet Placement Center, she had cancerous growths in her mammary glands. She has been spayed and had two additional surgeries to remove all her affected mammary glands. Her margins are clear and she is strong and healthy. Our vet assures us that there is very little chance of cancer returning because Ambrosia has been spayed. If she had been spayed early in life, this would never have happened.
Ambrosia lived in a foster home for 4 months while she recovered from her surgeries. She is an excellent inside dog and prefers to be snuggled up on a dog bed or couch. Completely housebroken, she will sit happily beside her person for hours. She does not like cold weather. She enjoys chasing a ball, giving her family a great way to help her get enough exercise. She also enjoys short walks on a lead - she prefers to mosey along at a slow pace. Ambrosia can be bribed with a squeaky toy of the stuffed animal variety and her favorite treats are carrots and peanut butter.
A common misconception about American Staffordshire Terriers is that they grow into muscle bound hulks. This is generally not the case as the majority of them are agile and athletic. Ambrosia is beauty in motion when she runs and chases a ball. She loves to play ball, but would also love to be a couch potato. She is crate trained, housebroken, knows 'stay', 'come', and 'no', will not pass through a door without permission, and seems to understand every word we say to her. Ambrosia weighs 50 pounds.
The adoption fee is $90 which includes a free veterinary exam within 2 weeks of adoption, up to date vaccinations, tests for heartworms, heartworm medication, FELV/FIV test, deworming, flea treatment, microchip, and spay or neuter.
