Sotive's Story...
Hi! My name is Sotive. I know it's kinda weird, I'm always open to change! My favourite thing is to play with all of my friends at the Sanctuary. My next favourite thing is when our rescuers come in to spend time with us, I love people and they make me purr really loud! One other interesting thing about me is my tail, everyone says so. See, it is kind of short!

I was found by one of the people who works here while I was trying to cross the highway. It's a wonder that I didn't get squashed! I don't know what I was thinking, maybe there was a mouse on the other side of the road. The people who work here were really sad that they could not find my brothers and sisters but at least I am safe. I am almost big enough to get spayed. If you want two kitties, I wouldn't mind, I have lots of friends here who I really get along great with!

About Our Shelter...
Who We Are

The Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, neglected, and otherwise homeless companion animals. We provide both crisis and long-term sheltering, medical care, fostering, and adoption services - all with the goal of placing our animals permanently in safe and loving homes. We spay and neuter all of the animals in our care and actively promote, through financial donations and community support, the effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals in Stevens County, Wa.

What We Do

We provide temporary shelter for up to 100 cats and dogs at any given time. Amazingly, we are successful in finding permanent adoptive homes for most of our animals. We can accommodate up to 21 adult dogs and 15 puppies, and 30 adult cats and 30 kittens at one time. We are currently staffed entirely by volunteers who provide love, stability and a place to call home for our animals.

Our Adoption Process...
1. Choose a pet from our Adopt-a-Pet listings.

2. Send us an email and schedule a time to come to the Sanctuary and meet with your chosen pet.

3. If you like the pet you meet, you will then fill out an adoption application and contract. Your application will be reviewed with the goal of finding the best possible match between the animal and adopting family.

4. Once you are approved, you can take the animal home (in most cases).

5. Some animals do require a home check. If the animal you are interested in requires a home check, one of our group representatives will make an appointment to bring the animal to your home for a visit. Ultimately, our objective is to facilitate a successful placement that meets the needs of both the animal and the adopting family.

Adoption fee is $150.00

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sotive, a Colville Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Colville, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Colville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Colville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Colville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Colville paves the way for another one to be saved.
