Colt's Story...
Our part in Colt's story started with a horrible call from animal control. "I'm on my way there with a cat who has been shot!". When he arrived at the hospital, our doctors discovered through surgery and x-rays that the bullets could not be removed without endangering his life further. When he work from surgery, he could not use his back legs. After extensive treatement, this handsome cat walks just fine but his injuries have left him a little cross eyed. We think it only adds to his charm. He gets along with everyone and has been a great big brother to our kittens. He loves people and will stay near you all day looking for affection. This affectionate cat deserves a loving peaceful home to make up for the abuse he has suffered.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rockaway already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rockaway breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rockaway paves the way for another one to be saved.
