Scruffy's Story...
Please consider opening your heart and home to this little 14 year old male Shih Tzu mix. His name is Scruffy and although he is partially deaf and has a heart murmur (he takes daily meds for this), he deserves to finish out his life in a loving home rather than face death in a cold, sterile shelter. One look into those soulful eyes and he will pull at your heartstrings. He is UTD on shots, neutered, heartworm and lyme disease negative and has had a complete dental. Scruffy loves everyone and gets along with adults, children, dogs and cats. He is housetrained, crate and leash trained. His foster mom says he is the perfect little gentleman. For more information, email denise1028@embarqmail.com Adoption application and fee required.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scruffy, a Hillsville Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Hillsville, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Hillsville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hillsville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hillsville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hillsville paves the way for another one to be saved.
