Boris's Story...
My name is Boris. I came to RVHS with my canine family. They were all lucky to find their forever families. I am waiting for you!

I can be very shy, then once I get to know you I won't leave your side. I am loyal, smart and very playful. I am looking for my person to trust me and give my a chance to prove I am an awesome dog.

I am dreaming of the day I can share your home, be with you and call you my family. OH! Did I mention I am quite handsome, turn heads with my good looks and loads of fun to be with? Yep, that's me Boris, come see me.

About Our Shelter...
RVHS is a small No-Kill shelter founded in the 1960's. We welcome over 400 animals every year, we help to reunite lost pets with their loved ones, we carry out Humane Education Programs in local public schools and organizations. Our proudest moments are when a dog or a cat that has been literally 'thrown away' can be treated, rehabilitated and take their place in society. We are dedicated to helping our community...four paws at a time!
Come Meet Our Pets...
The public viewing hours for the kennel and cat rooms are Monday Through Saturday, Noon until 4PM.
Our Adoption Process...
Kitten/Cat adoption fees are $65
Adult Dog adoption fees are $150
Puppy adoption fees are $150
Potential adopters should be prepared to come into the shelter to fill out paperwork. If they are renters, a copy of their lease showing that pets are allowed is required. For dogs and puppies, a house visit is made before any adoption is finalized.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
The Rogue Valley Humane Society serves Josephine county with a population of 82,000 in southern Oregon. Located in the city of Grants Pass, the shelter can accommodate 18 dogs (plus litters of puppies) and 90 cats. RVHS is dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in our community and finding permanent and loving homes for the cats and dogs in our care. We provide a safe haven for animals in transition, serve as advocates for animals and their people, work to end animal overpopulation and educate the public about compassion and responsibility towards all animals. Our shelter is a No-Kill facility where all incoming animals are evaluated, medically treated and rehabilitated when needed. RVHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that does not receive any government funding and relies on the good will and generosity of individuals and corporations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Boris, a Grants Pass Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Grants Pass, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Grants Pass.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grants Pass already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grants Pass breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grants Pass paves the way for another one to be saved.
