Lucas's Story...
IDGSR WELCOMES LUCAS INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!
Lucas has come to IDGSR and he was in terrible circumstances. A witness saw some people kicking Lucas out of a car on a very rural road in the countryside. Lucas was filthy and severely emaciated. Estimation that he was at least 25lbs. underweight. He has undergone a transformation over the last 2 months and he still has a ways to go in gaining some more weight, this X-large boy at a slim 90lbs. is looking well.
He's feeling better and is now neutered and vetted. Lucas was not treated well by his previous owners but now in the custody of the rescue we want to give this senior male (8-10yrs.)a life that he's never had an opportunity to know.
Lucas is in good health, is heartworm negative and is a energetic senior. While he needs some leash work, he's so excited to get out and go for walks and have one on one love and attention. Lucas has a calm demeanor and is fine with adult large breed females, no other males though.
Lucas would love to have a family of his own, where they will appreciate him and love him.

If you would like to make Lucas a part of your family please apply with the rescue.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucas, a Greeneville German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Greeneville, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Greeneville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Greeneville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Greeneville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Greeneville paves the way for another one to be saved.
