Meet Floppy!

D.O.B: April 28, 2011 (estimated)

Color: Black

Weight: 85lbs

Height: 24” (from ground to her shoulders)

Breed: Labrador Mix (Doberman and/or other)

Vaccination Current: Yes, One year vaccination w/ booster.

Distemper / Parvo / Lepto.

Neutered: Yes (May 30, 2012)

Floppy is part lab/doberman mix (we assume). She was taken from her mother at 3 weeks old and then later dropped off at our door at about 8/9months old.  She is a year and half old and needs to a good home (of course as do all). She has had no luck at all finding her a home. She is UTD on vaccinations and spayed.  Can you help?  Wont you please consider giving the girl a home

She loves playing with our two rescues, 15lb Large Yorkie and 40lb Mutt. She plays GREAT with the little Yorkie - very gentle and loving (she even hugs him). She loves to run and spin in circles, she loves being right on top of / next to / close to her caregiver/s. She LOVES food and milk bones and treats - not fussy about food at all.

She was taken from her mother at the age of 3 weeks old. Was carried around like a baby until she was too big to carry, then she was basically abandoned - left alone by the child who took her from her mother and litter mates. There was a breaking and entering / home invasion / robbery when Floppy was home, it was stated that she and the other dog present were very traumatized by the experience but no one knows exactly what was done to the two dogs - they found them locked up in a closet.

Floppy is a big girl, she weights 85 lbs now. She was dropped off at my home by the child who took her from her litter mates because his grandmother / caregiver said the dog had to go.

Floppy has many quirks, most are adorable and cute but the big one - lack of confidence / awareness and coupled with difficulty in taking cues from handler when insecure, afraid, excited. She is very aware and capable of following instruction in general but when  she sees / 'feels' something new and strange to her she gets very excited - hair stands up, she may bark, she might pull on the lead and overall is un-able to listen to handler. It is at times very difficult. She is getting much better and has made big headway in this but it is still an issue and possibly would be for her new owners.

An ideal owner for Floppy is someone with a lot of love and patience and someone able to handle a large dog. She would probably do very well where there is land to run, a country dog. She is VERY loving to myself, my husband, our two dogs and adults who visit she quite quickly comes to love and be affectionate to but she still does not respond like a normal dog to house guests. She gets crazy for a bit but then eventually settles down and treats guest like they are a part of the family.

We never let her around children because we are too afraid. But that does not mean she would not be good with children. Her first owner was a child. We just do not feel confident enough in her to take a chance.

I have put together a small website of Floppy which you can post and share:

Extended Information on Floppy:
She and our other 2 year old female mix-breed dog fight, though Floppy does not fight at all with our 12lb male Yorkie. Floppy is difficult to walk and gets very VERY excited when she sees other dogs. She does try to fight with other dogs. I believe an idea home for her would require a large yard for running and playing (which we do not have and I know this is bad for her not to have). And the person needs to have experience dogs, specifically large dogs.

Floppy has was taken from her litter/ mother at 3 weeks old. She was also in a home during a breaking and entering which left her and the other dog in the house slightly scarred. She was not in my care when this happened, but I knew of it happening and saw her and the other dog after. They both showed signs of post traumatic stress - they were found locked in a closet when they home owners returned.

On a good note - Floppy adores us humans in the house and does everything to be wonderful and cute in the house. She loves to play and listens very well - EXTREMELY well. She behaves in the house like a perfect dog - she doesn't beg for food but enjoys some treats from our plates once in a while (our Yorkie on the other hand will sit and cry for table food :)]

If she starts to get a little rowdy and the neighbor below us bangs on his ceiling to tell us to hold it down, we tell the dogs to calm down - and Floppy will calm right down and play less rambunctiously - she lie down and chew her bone or sit next to us on the couch and fall asleep. She is great in the home with us and is great to us but we have to keep our house sectioned off with her in one part and our other dog in another part of the house.

I can give more info and set up meeting with any potential takers!
