My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LUKE is a 6-year-old, 77-lb. yellow lab/American bulldog mix. He was on a shelter list to be euthanized because he tested positive for heartworm. We don't believe it is right to put down an adoptable dog when he has a treatable illness. So we took him into our care. This handsome boy was surrendered to the shelter by his family due to financial reasons. While Luke sometimes barks and gives a stranger the cold shoulder at first, he soon warms up and welcomes a scratch behind the ears and a walk. Luke's reluctance to immediately befriend everyone may be due to the fact that he is feeling confused or uncertain in his strange new environment, missing the home and family that was his security.

But with each day we see Luke become more relaxed and confident. He is going to be an excellent addition to someones family. This boy is very strong and pulls hard on the leash. Labs are people pleasers though, and can learn to walk politely on a leash if you are willing to be a patient teacher. His adoption fee is on a sliding scale of $100-$150; you choose the amount that is right for you.
