I am already spayed, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, not good with dogs, and good with cats.
Please contact CaringFriendsCatRescue@Yahoo.Com for more information about this pet.
Winnie is a loving senior cat with special needs needing a home. In April of 2012 Winnie appeared at one of Caring Friends feeding stations where we feed community cats. It was apparent after a few weeks Winnie wasn't a feral cat but a pet that somebody decided to abandon, because they no longer cared. Winnie was finally rescued and went to a temporary foster home.
Winnie had a fairly good appetite but her foster family noticed excessive thirst and urination. After a full physical Winnie was diagnosed with diabetes. In July, 2012 Winnie was put on insulin injections twice daily and a special diet. It was obvious she had insulin injections before being abandoned by the way she took to them.
In late November 2012 Winnie seemed to be breathing heavy and wheezing. Another trip to the Vet and she was diagnosed as having asthma. To date Winnie has the insulin and no other maintenance medications for her asthma.
Winnie still needs a forever home and she is in danger of losing her foster home. Her foster dad has left the area and has abandoned all care he gave to this cat and others financially and emotionally. Winnie's insulin and syringes are over $230 every six weeks.
Winnie would love a home of her own but her medical expenses have made this difficult. Winnie is a large senior girl estimated to be 14 to 16 years old, although we don't know for certain. She loves a lap to sit on but only tolerates other cats. We don't know if she was always like this or if it was because she was left in a shopping center and had to defend herself. She lives with other cats but likes her own space. When other cats come near her she hisses and growls but rarely does anything else unless provoked. Other times Winnie will have another kitty sleeping just a few feet away. Winnie loves to groomed and sits nicely when her ears are cleaned. She rolls over for a belly rub as well. She has so much love to give if the right home can be found. She has had an application submitted for a sanctuary but a home where she can be loved is better for her.
