Twiggy's Story...
Twiggy is a 2 year old sweet tabby looking for her forever home. She was brought in to Lakeside Vet Clinic in Milledgeville last year, starving and pregnant. She gave birth and raised her babies, taking very good care of them. Twiggs was adopted at Petsmart by a family with several very small children. We aren't sure exactly how the kids interacted with her at home, but she wasn't happy and began swatting at the kids. Twiggy returned to Petsmart for adoption, but she's not very happy in the adoption room with a small space and lots of other cats and kittens. As you can see in the video, she is extremely sweet and very comfortable at the vet's office. :) She will co-exist with other cats and even puts up with dogs, but she would probably be happiest in a home without very small children (9 and under). Twiggy would also likely enjoy having a SAFE yard or deck to sun herself in and chase birds. She's energetic and absolutely adores toys, so she needs a family willing to interact with her *appropriately* using cat toys such as a feather wand.

About Our Rescue Group...
The Circle Begins

Circle of Friends Animal Society was founded in January of 2007 by eight friends with eighty years of experience in animal welfare between them. They had worked in many organizations over the years and wanted to use their knowledge and skills, add all the best practices and most innovative ideas they had discovered, and follow a different path than a typical humane society. They set out to create an organization that would address the multiple concerns of animal welfare with positive, humane solutions.

Our Philosophy

Circle of Friends believes that animals deserve kindness and that being kind to animals brings forth our best human qualities and creates a more compassionate society. We believe that every life is precious and do not put a price tag on that life. If an animal needs an investment of time, money, and effort to have a chance at a happy life, we will not turn that animal away. We believe that educating pet owners and providing services to help them is key to creating a community in which animals are valued and treated with compassion. We do not limit ourselves to helping dogs and cats and will assist any animal, of any species, to the best of our capabilities.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We ALWAYS have cats for adoptions in the Macon Petsmart Adoption Center. Someone is there to speak to from 6-7 p.m. on weekdays and 11-4 p.m. on weekends.

Every Saturday we are at the Petsmart in Loganville on 78 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with dogs for adoptions.

Our Adoption Process...
After we receive your application we will review it and discuss it with you. We talk with you about the animal’s energy level, temperament, individual training requirements. We also talk about your living situation, expectations, and what you are looking for in a pet. We reserve the right to require a home visit (for all “bully” breeds this is a requirement, but we may ask for one with other animals as well) before going ahead with any adoption.

Adoption fees begin at $150 for dogs and $80 for cats. They are all spayed or neutered, UTD on shots, tested/treated for heartworm or FeLV/FIV, de-wormed and on flea prevention.

Once the paperwork has been completed and the animal is considered “ready to go,” you may take him or her home with you! We love to hear about former COFAS dogs and cats who have found their forever homes - so do keep in touch!

Please note: Our animals are spayed or neutered once they are considered of age for the procedure. In very, very rare cases we will give the adopter a certificate for the procedure to be done at a later date by our approved veterinarian.

Also, from time to time we will have dogs or cats at adoption events or listed online that are not considered ready for adoption. They may need medical procedures or additional behavioral training before they are free to go. We feel that in these cases it is beneficial for the animals- they are able to get exposure to potential adopters as well as the socialization experiences that come with meeting lots of people and animals. If you meet a dog at our adoption events but he is not ready to leave our care quite yet, you are welcome to put an application in on him. However, our applications are not considered first-come first-serve; we want the animal to go to the most appropriately matched home as possible. This is not only for the dog or cat’s sake, but to make sure his or her new human family is happy, too!

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We have foster homes all over!! Some in Greensboro, Athens, and even Lawrenceville. We have had people travel from out of state to adopt our animals and are glad to accommodate when needed. Distance in the GA Area does not matter when looking for your new family member.
