A filthy, emaciated cat had appeared in an elderly gentleman’s yard, literally dragging herself to what she hoped would be her refuge. Luckily, Ainsley chose well. The gentleman and his aide, afraid Ainsley wouldn’t survive, brought her to the vet. An exam revealed why she was unable to walk—a broken back. Based on the break’s location, the vet concluded someone hit her—repeatedly—with a bat. Ainsley’s good Samaritans agreed to pay for her care, knowing it would be expensive.
Despite an uncertain prognosis and the possibility of permanent nerve damage, AnimaLovers agreed to take her in when the vet released her. After two weeks in the hospital, Ainsley went to foster care, where she was pampered as she healed and gained strength. She now shows no lasting effects of her trauma, other than an understandable shyness around new people.
Today, Ainsley is affectionate and talkative, with a deep affinity for her foster dad and windowsills, and looking for a home where she’ll never be neglected or abused again. If that home might be yours, please call AnimaLovers at 448-5468, and press 1 for the adoption line. Let's work together to make this the perfect ending!
Rescue Group Info...
AnimaLovers was founded in 1995 by a small group of friends who wanted to provide needy cats and dogs in the Capital District of New York with a better way to find their way to safety and new lives. As of 2011, AnimaLovers is serving cats, only. AnimaLovers's mission is to:
* To provide housing, veterinary care, and adoption for unwanted, abandoned, injured, or stray cats;
* To educate adopters, as well as the general public, about the health and training needs of our companion animals;
* To promote spaying and neutering as an efficient and humane means of animal population control; and
* To advocate for legislation that will prevent cruelty to animals.
In addition, AnimaLovers has expanded beyond the boundaries of cat and dog rescue and adoption to meet the needs of other animals as well by creating programs to help families keep their companion animals healthy by providing low cost spay/neuter services and emergency veterinary care.
