Our mission is to promote animal welfare through education, stressing owner responsibility. With the cooperation of local rescue agencies, we will endeavor to adopt all animals to good homes while keeping with state law, which requires rabies vaccinations and spay/neuter. As public servants we will strive to equitably enforce and educate the citizens of Rome/Floyd County as to the regulations relating to domestic animal care and treatment.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
While we strive to adopt out all pets to good homes, this is a rural county with a low rate of spay/neuter. Vast numbers of pets are surrendered, or found lost, neglected, or abandoned. Space is limited; therefore, pets are only held for a brief period at this facility. Therefore, euthanization is a weekly task. We service all of Floyd County Georgia, however individuals from outside the county are always welcome to come and adopt.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

2279 (10/7), a Rome Silky Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Silky Terrier for sale in Rome, or seeking a Silky Terrier dog from a breeder in Rome.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rome already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rome breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Silky Terrier breeders who help with Silky Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rome paves the way for another one to be saved.
