Here's what the humans have to say about me:
September 23, 2012: Pappy is a sweet 8ish year old purebred samoyed who came from a hoarding situation. It is unknown as to where he was before then, but it is suspected that he was a puppymill survivor. Although his alledged hoarder may have had too many animals and Pappy was neglected, it is obvious from his personality that he knows what love is. He is very affectionate with all humans and loves nothing more than to be kissed and petted. Not knowing what to do with toy and normal dog entertainment items, Pappy prefers to go for leash walks and snuggle up with you on his bed. You, his human, are his entertainment!
Pappy is completely blind and can not differentiate night from day. He is fearful of new environments and is terrified if crated and confined to a small area. In his foster home, Pappy has his own 10x20 room that is babygated from the rest of the house. He feels very secure here, but wishes he could be with his humans.
Introducing him to other dogs will take a very patient owner. Because he cannot see the other dog's body language, Pappy automatically assumes that he must defend himself and will snarl and lunge towards his perceived 'danger'. He is getting used to the smells and sounds of the house dogs and now greets them at the gate with a wagging tail. We are hoping that in time, he will feel safe and be friendly without the safety of the gate barrier.
If you are looking for a very grateful and snuggly canine, and are willing to patiently teach him to trust other dogs, then Pappy is your man
