And now a few words from me:
My name is Haddie and although I know I'm cute, I'm still pretty freaked out when people try to touch or hold me. I have had very little human contact in my life before joining rescue so I just don't get what it's all about. My foster mom tries very hard but I just don't like it so try to avoid any touching. I share my house with other dogs and get along with them just fine though. I do bark when something is not to my liking so would not do well in an apartment or condo setting with close neighbours. I have not yet learned to walk on a leash and an extremely secure fenced yard is an absolute requirement.
And now a few words from my foster mom:
Haddie has been with me for quite a while. Although she's a stunning little girl and has improved immensely since arriving, she's going to take just the right home to adopt her. She will most likely never be a cuddly dog but she now does allow me to touch and pet her without freaking out and shaking non-stop. In all likelihood, she will revert back in her new home until she learns to trust people there. She does however take treats very gently from my hand now. She really is a very sweet girl who is so deserving of having a normal happy life but with such a rough start (we believe from a puppy mill), she will take a long long time to learn to trust. Her new home should have another dog as that really is her comfort level and will allow her to trust quicker. Kids under 16 or anyone who moves quickly will freak her out. Ideally Haddie's new home would be a home that will give her oodles of time and patience and be willing to accept her for who she is and not try to force her to trust until she's ready. Medically she's fine - no concerns. She will need her ears cleaned fairly regularly as they tend to get dirty but she's spayed, up to date on shots and has had dental work done since joining us. She is working on housetraining using pee pads.

All dogs adopted from LOYAL Rescue will receive 6 weeks of free pet insurance with AdoptSecure!
LOYAL Rescue is a foster based rescue with homes located throughout the province and in the United States. We do not operate a shelter, thus do not have viewing hours. Each pet is in a private home. In order to adopt this pet, please visit our website www.loyalrescue.com and fill in our online application. If you have any questions, please email us by clicking here.
Once you submit the online adoption application, we will arrange for a volunteer to contact you to conduct the telephone interview. The same volunteer will also contact your veterinarian and personal references. If the interview and references go well, a home visit will be booked. Should you be the successful applicant for this pet, you are then welcome to come and meet the dog. You are not obligated to adopt if the fit is not correct, however we must go through this process prior to you meeting the dog.
LOYAL Rescue is 100% volunteer run.
Please read the FAQ section of the LOYAL website, prior to applying to adopt from us.

Rescue Group Info...
Although LOYAL Rescue has only been around since 2006, members of LOYAL Rescue have 40+ years of rescue involvement. Through our combined love and dedication to the dogs, we have come together to do what we can to save a life.
All adoptions REQUIRE an application to be filled out. There is an online application at www.loyalrescue.com. Once you complete the application, we will call you to answer any of your questions and confirm details before proceeding. We then call your vet for a reference, and call each of the three references you list on your application. If all goes well, we visit your home to confirm this is the best possible home for the dog you are applying to adopt. If you are approved, you then fill out a contract, pay an adoption fee (between $300-$400) and adopt the dog. ALL DOGS are up to date on shots, spayed/neutered (unless too old, unhealthy or too young to do), dewormed, defleaed and health checked before going to their new home.
We are located in Peterborough, Ontario and serve this area as well as the Kawartha's, across Ontario and even into the Norther States. YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR PET THOUGH as we DO NOT SHIP.
